Back

I’m back. NY feels like the bastion of all civilization right now. Amazing the order, the cleanliness, the quiet! And this is New York! I’ve been up for 24 hours since I woke for my flight at 5am Cairo time. It’s now 5am there, but only 10:15 here. I’m going to sleep soon. But safe and sound. I went for a walk and a drink with a friend this evening and I felt that confidence that comes with having traveled to some place so far gone from home. My old employers have already contacted me, so things are looking good. Tomorrow life starts up again here.

    hey brandon!

been reading your blog. i’m so glad you keep one. I really enjoy your writing; your descriptions of livf are simultaneously vivid and engaging. :)

i understand how hard it can be to come back stateside after having spent time somewhere that once felt alien one day seems, almost absentmindedly, to slip into the sentiment of being more “home” than, ‘home’, one day out of the blue!

welcome back. cherish the experience and let that drive you forward.

i have no fear you will.
